Sarasota Food Blog - SRQ Chew - Screaming Goat Taqueria

Here are a few images from my tasting with my lunch pals last week at Screaming Goat Taqueria. Located in the Gulf Gate area of Sarasota, The Screaming Goat offers something for everyone including vegan, vegetarian and gluten free humans.

Malin Parker, chef and owner of Screaming Goat has worked all over the country but has made Sarasota his home for the past nineteen years. When I asked Chef Parker why he wanted to own a taqueria he said, "I've been working in kitchens since I was fifteen years old. Most of the guys I worked with were from Latin America, so I gained a lot of familiarity with the food and fell in love." He also goes on to say "my mom was a wonderful cook and taught me the values of making everything from scratch and using ingredients grown in the garden. I've wanted to do a Latin restaurant for many years, but not just any restaurant. I wanted to create an environment where I could go... don't have to get dressed up... everything revolves around great food, beverage and friendly service... kind of a party atmosphere, just as if you were to open up your home." Chef Parker has definitely created just what he wanted at Screaming Goat.

Chef Parker made for us every taco on the menu (thank you, chef). From beef barbacoa with guajillo-chipotle salsa, cactus paddle-roasted onion and radish to mesquite chicken with smoked red pepper salsa to vegan tacos. Each fresh corn taco was excellent with just the right combination and amount of salsa or relish to compliment the craft taco. I loved them all but I really loved the masa- dusted cauliflower with cilantro chimichurri, queso fresco, cilantro and lime.

Chef Parker also offers burritos and arepas which are a fried corn cake topped with your choice of protein and toppings. Bowls filled with citrus rice, refried back beans, choice of protein and toppings area also offered. Pictured above is a bowl with chicken and it was enjoyed by all especially by my little pal.

I can tell by Malin's wonderful food and joy on his face that he loves what he does and loves the people he serves.

The Screaming Goat also carries an impressive selection of local craft beers too. Pictured is Jdubs's Poolside Kolsch and Coppertail's Free Dive IPA. Delicious!

If you are in the mood for authentic, fresh, craft tacos and beer with a very laid back and a really  friendly vibe, Screaming Goat Taqueria is your place. Join them for Taco Tuesdays where Chef Parker offers  $3 tacos and $5 local craft beers all day.

Malin wants to thank his friends in beautiful Sarasota for being so kind and supportive of his new adventure and chapter in his professional career. I think we need to thank YOU, chef!!!!!
