Sarasota Food Blog - SRQ Chew - The Best Of - Year in Review

Best of Sarasota Restaurants
SRQ Chew Food Blog

Every month on my Sarasota food blog I have featured a fabulous Sarasota establishment that I love. For my December 2016 post I am listing my "best of" restaurants I have reviewed over the past year and also establishments I have been to but have not featured yet on my Sarasota food blog. I hope to feature them in the coming year.

This year I have visited coffee houses, bakeries, cafes, restaurants, breweries, food trucks and Farmers' markets. Yes, I have been busy eating and drinking. I have met some special people in the process who love what they do and know that love makes their food, coffee--whatever they make--so good.

Here is my list of the best of Sarasota foodie establishments along with their website and Facebook links. My list is just the beginning of what Sarasota has to offer. Hope they will become your favorites too.

 The Best Of Sarasota

I take my coffee very seriously and the coffee places provided below know coffee and how to excite a coffee purist.

I take my donuts very seriously too. The following donut spots are perfect for satisfying classic or not so classic cravings. These sweet offerings are always fresh and yummy whatever your mood may be.

Brooklyn Bagel & Deli and Cafe Bagel are on my list because of their bagels' signature texture that is pure New York. A snappy exterior with the perfect chew makes their bagels the best in Sarasota and Venice.

I cannot say enough about these bakeries. Their offerings are made from scratch everyday and they put a lot of love in what they do. All the bakeries on my list are pieces of Europe in the heart of Sarasota.

Simon's Coffee House offers a casual, local and eclectic menu that vegans and not so vegans will love. Simon's truly embraces its concept of fresh and local in a unique way. Delicious!

Chef Lijo shares a menu that is inspired by his childhood. The result is authentic regional excellence and one of my favorite Indian restaurants. Flavors of India will be one of your favorites too.

Visit Chef Darwin for a healthy and fresh meal. All of his creations are a perfect balance of flavors. Dine in or take to the beach.

Local craft beer at its best. The enjoyment of drinking beer is certainly elevated when the brewer's passion of creating beer shows through. Cheers!

Farmers' Markets
A wonderful way to spend a Wednesday and a Saturday morning to support your community.

Artisan Cheese Company is a wonderful place to wind down and enjoy some cheese with a glass of wine or beer. Louise and her staff know their cheese and will give you an education on the magic of cheese and other lovely things.

Isan Thai's Drunken Noodles is the perfect combination of sweet and spicy goodness.

Mozzarella Fella is such a fun and friendly place. Their Meatball Sub is my favorite. Italian comfort food at its best!

Il Panificio is one of the first pizza places I tried when I moved to Sarasota. Their thin crispy crust, homemade sauce and Frank Sinatra tunes keeps bringing me back.

French Fries
Shore's Truffle Fries are cooked and seasoned to perfection with a hint of truffle oil, parmesan and chives. A favorite with my family.

Peperonata Empanadas will satisfy all tastes and palates by carrying a variety of different flavors. From Mediterranean lamb (my favorite) to Margherita pizza. Made from scratch everyday and with love make these empanadas the best I have ever tasted.

La Bodega is a family owned restaurant and grocery that serves the most authentic Mexican food in Sarasota at a great price. My favorite taco is with chorizo but all the tacos are really fantastic with simple and honest ingredients. Simplicity is the essence of this Mexican gem.

It has been a very good year for SRQ Chew. Thanks to everyone who follows my blog. Thanks also to the people who make the local food scene of Sarasota so yummy. Cheers to 2017! Happy eating and drinking.
